Message from Vice Provost Douglas M. Haynes, PhD

Thank you for visiting the Office of Inclusive Excellence website.

Our mission is simple and audacious: to establish UCI as a national leader and global model of inclusive excellence. This mission emphatically recognizes that excellence through diversity defines our campus community today and tomorrow.

The evidence is all around us—in classrooms, laboratories, and studios; residency halls and meeting spaces; on ring road, and at Anteater events. UCI’s distinctive mission as a public research university not only attracts talented young people and accomplished scholars from our state, nation, and world but also creates opportunities for making person-to-person connections across multiple and varied dimensions of diversity. These connections can be transformational to the extent that each of us expect equity, support diversity, and practice inclusion in our daily choices. Let’s be audacious Anteaters by being inclusive excellence leaders.

Here are the ways you can be a leader:

Expect Equity, Support Diversity and Practice Inclusion,

Douglas M. Haynes, PhD
Vice Provost for Academic Equity, Diversity & Inclusion

About The Office of Inclusive Excellence

The Office of Inclusive Excellence drives UCI’s commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. This commitment is fundamental to advancing the campus’s mission as a public research university. To this end, the office provides campus accountability, mounts training and education, conducts responsive research, and builds and sustains partnerships with universities and colleges that share this commitment.

Our mission is to establish UCI as national leader and global model of inclusive excellence, where all faculty, graduate and undergraduate students expect equity, support diversity, and practice inclusion.
