Dear Campus Community,
I am delighted to welcome Dr. Marguerite Bonous-Hammarth as the new Executive Director of the Office of Inclusive Excellence (OIE). She joins a team of experienced faculty leaders and dedicated career staff who together mount a suite of programs to build and sustain a campus community where all expect equity, support diversity and practice inclusion. Dr. Bonous-Hammarth will play a critical role in advancing UCI’s aspiration to be a national leader and global model of inclusive excellence. As executive director, Dr. Bonous-Hammarth will provide day-to-day office management, oversee program assessment and evaluation, strengthen collaboration with academic units as well as campus divisions, and expand research capacity for evaluating equity, diversity and inclusion for faculty, graduate students and undergraduates.
Dr. Bonous-Hammarth brings considerable experience to OIE. She received her Ph.D. in education from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a M.A. in literature from the University of California, San Diego. Within the UCI Division of Student Affairs, she has served as director of assessment, research, and evaluation, as well as director of the Office of Admissions and Relations with Schools. Her published work and ongoing research focus on college student development, learning assessment, and the influence of person-environment fit that may be achieved across individual and organizational values to optimize student success. Dr. Bonous-Hammarth is active in several national associations, including the American Educational Research Association, American Evaluation Association, and NASPA-Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education.
Please join me in welcoming Dr. Bonous-Hammarth to the OIE Team.
