University of California – Historically Black Colleges and Universities Initiative | Deadline: March 15, 2019

Dear Colleagues,

The Call for Proposals for the University of California-Historically Black Colleges and Universities (UC-HBCU) Initiative for 2018-2019 has been released. I want to urge you to consider this funding opportunity.

The purpose of the initiative is to increase the participation of graduates of Historically Black Colleges and Universities in the wide array of distinguished doctoral and MFA programs throughout the UC system. The competition provides for two types of funding: Summer Research Internship Support Grant and Summer Research and Graduate Admission Pathways Grant. Principal Investigators may include 1/9 summer salary to help support their efforts. Now in its ninth year, UC Irvine faculty continue to be leaders in the University of California in building and sustaining research driven relationships with partner HBCU campuses.

For more information on the UC-HBCU Initiative, please visit the UC-HBCU Initiative webpage. There you will find the Request for Proposals, Instructions and Templates, a Faculty Applicant Webinar, and Frequently Asked Questions. The deadline to apply for this funding opportunity is March 15, 2019.

The Office of Inclusive Excellence will host a UCI Campus Webinar on January 28 at 9:00 AM. Sign up today!
Should you have any additional questions or to receive campus guidance, please contact Roxane Cohen Silver, Associate Director of the ADVANCE program at rsilver@uci.edu.
