Protecting Civil Rights and Civil Liberties in Times of Political Crisis
  • This event has passed.
Please join us for an evening of thoughtful engagement about today’s pressing issues from current Supreme Court cases to the Justice Department, examining immigration, reproductive rights, the Muslim Ban and more.

Professor Goodwin will speak about her newly released book, Policing the Womb: Invisible Women and the Criminalization of Motherhood, which expands the reproductive health and rights debate beyond abortion to

include how legislators are criminalizing women for miscarriages,

stillbirths, and threatening the health of their pregnancies.

Professor Goodwin brings to light how unrestrained efforts to punish and police women’s reproduction has led to the United States being the deadliest country in the developed world for childbirth.
