A&PW of UCI is proud to announce the third installment of the video series focused on raising the voices of womxn across UCI: Amplify Womxn of UCI: Hearing Our Stories.

Amplify Womxn of UCI:

This initiative aims to aid in the eradication of anti-Black and anti-inclusive mindsets through 5-minute mini interviews in which our guests (UCI staff, faculty, and retirees) will share their personal experiences with discrimination and/or profiling based on race, gender, disability, and/or other pieces of their identity.

Panelists

Dr. Krystal Tribbett
Curator, Orange County Regional History,
UCI Libraries

Tribbett develops, makes accessible, and advocates for archives and special collections materials, as well as facilitates oral history and documentation initiatives relating to the history of Orange County, California. She is especially focused on supporting the creation, preservation, and accessibility of histories underrepresented, misrepresented, or absent from dominant narratives of the region.

 

Erika Hayasaki
Associate Professor, UCI Literary Journalism Program

Prior to UCI, Hayasaki spent 9 years as a staff metro reporter and national correspondent for the LA Times. Her feature stories and essays have appeared in Newsweek, The Wall Street Journal, and others. She teaches courses in nonfiction storytelling at UCI in the Literary Journalism Program and is a recipient of the LA Times Best Writing Award, the Association of Sunday Feature Editors Award, and the American Society of Newspaper Editors Breaking News Award.

The series, called “Amplify Womxn of UCI: Hearing Our Stories,” features 5-minute video interviews of womxn of UCI. Each guest shares their personal experience with discrimination and/or profiling based on race, gender, disability and other pieces of their identity. The video series will be instrumental in documenting these thought-provoking stories. In order to preserve them for future generations, they will be archived in the UCI Libraries Special Collections & Archives.
