The AAPI Womxn in Leadership would like to invite you to an interactive workshop, Beyond Solidarity: Privilege, Positionality, & Advocacy as Asian Americans, featuring Jade Agua (USC Race & Equity Center) and Kathy Dong (UCI Student Success Initiatives).

This workshop will take place on Thursday, January 21 from 1 – 2pm PST, and will push us, as Asian Americans, beyond espoused solidarity, challenging us to consider our unique ability to advocate, strategically utilize our positionality, and leverage our privilege for other communities of color. The foundation of our session stems from social and cultural capital, intergroup dialogue, and cultural responsive tools for the UCI community to raise awareness and acquire political astuteness. We will explore and craft contextual definitions of privilege as Asian Americans, critically analyze different situations, and identify strategies and skills to support each other and other marginalized folks in the moment and in the movement. Though this event is hosted by the AAPI Womxn in Leadership Initiative, all members of the UCI community are welcome. Note: you must have a UCI email address to register for this event.
