The Departments of Molecular Biology and Chemistry will host a compelling talk by on “Gender Equity in Academia” at 4 p.m. on May 12. Professor Walton is internationally recognized for his efforts to examine equity issues in science, including serving on the Irish Higher Education Authority’s Athena Swan review group to address gender inequalities in Irish higher education. Professor Walton also has been honored as a runner up for the inaugural Athena Prize in 2016 for these efforts, among other accolades.
This event is free and open to the public.
Professor Walton also will present on his research on “The Active Sites of Copper Oxygenases and their Reactivity with H2O2” at 4 p.m. on May 16 (ISEB 1010)
