From Taipei to Brussels, from East Asia to Western Europe, dancers express their art and personal experience kinesthetically and cross-culturally. The event is about global connections in the world of dance. The event includes a brief lecture on contemporary dance in Taiwan by Dr. Yatin Lin and a conversation between Dr. Lin and the dancer-choreographer Chen-Wei Lee, who will explain her dancing journey and present her recent dance and choreography work. 

Chen-Wei Lee is an award-winning freelance dancer, choreographer and Gaga teacher, and the holder of the 24th TECO Award for the art of dance. Originally from Taiwan, her professional career  spans over a decade in many major companies, such as Batsheva Dance Company, GothenborgsOperas Danskompani, Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, VOETVOLK/Lisbeth Gruwez, and Peeping Tom.  She has worked with Jerome Bel, Lisbeth Gruwez, Marina Mascarell, Marcos Morau and others. As a choreographer, her signature works include “Together Alone” (with Vakulya Zoltán), “Black Box” (solo), “Elephant,” and “kNOwn FACE.”

Yatin Lin is a dance scholar and critic and associate professor of Dance Studies at the Taipei National University of the Arts (TNUA) in Taiwan. She received her PhD. in Dance History and Theory (the current Critical Dance Studies Program) from the University of California, Riverside.  She is a highly regarded scholar on contemporary dance in the Sinophone world. She is the author of Sino-Corporealities: Contemporary Choreographies from Taipei, Hong Kong, and New York (2015) and many articles. Her writings have been translated into Korean, Portuguese, and French. She served as the former President of Taiwan Dance Research Society (TDRS) and former Director of The Society for Dance History Scholars (SDHS).
