We would like to personally thank all who have attended our previous talks and invite those who could not attend to view recordings of past events here. We are delighted to announce that UCI Chief of Police Jorge Cisneros will kick-off the first “What Matters to Me and Why” event of the 2017-18 academic year on Wednesday, Oct. 11. With over 27 years of police experience, Chief Cisneros currently manages operations that include the patrol and investigation divisions, emergency management and administration on campus and at the UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange. He works closely with the campus community, local neighborhoods and law enforcement agencies throughout the state. Prior to his arrival at UCI, he served the Long Beach Police Department and Huntington Park Police Department. Currently, Chief Cisneros is also secretary and treasurer of the Orange County Chiefs’ of Police and Sheriff’s Association. “What Matters to Me and Why” encourages reflection about values, beliefs and motivations in the lives of those who shape our university. The series explores personal journeys – choices made, difficulties encountered, commitments formed and joys revealed – with the hope that these stories will help us to understand diverse pathways in life, work and leadership. Such understandings are crucial for fortifying tolerance, strengthening bonds, and supporting the virtues that make UCI a great institution. Please mark your calendar for future “What Matters to Me and Why” speakers:
Registration opens approximately three weeks prior to each event. We encourage you to join us Oct. 11 to hear Chief Cisneros’ unique perspectives. Please visit www.chancellor.uci.edu/whatmatters to register for the event. With warm regards, Doug Haynes Jonathan Feng |
