Celebrate and Commemorate Juneteenth with UCI Libraries and Social Sciences

In honor of Juneteenth, commemorating the end of slavery in the United States, UCI Libraries and the School of Social Sciences invite you to view a short documentary on the holiday which is observed annually on June 19th. You can also join others across the country in a free, virtual pop-up screening of the new feature film, Miss Juneteenth, today, Thursday, June 18th at 4 p.m. Pacific time. Click here for more details, and to access the free screening.

As curators and convenors, we in the libraries and social sciences join in helping us all learn more about the history and legacy of slavery, while sharing the opportunity to get a sneak peek at a new film that one critic describes as a “mother-daughter drama perfectly suited to our current moment.”

With gratitude,
Bill Maurer, Social Sciences Dean
Lorelei Tanji, University Librarian
