The Queer of Color Fest is an event to celebrate queer of color artists and scholars, to provide a venue to showcase their work (films, performances, music, art, writing, research, etc.), and to open up a safe space to hold much needed discussions of intersectionality and how intersections of identity affect work generated by queer of color individuals. This is also a venue to explore the relationship among the artist/scholar, their work, and their institution. It is an incredibly important event because UCI has never hosted a festival or conference honoring queer people of color, their scholarship and creative work. We need this space to highlight the work and the voices of queer of color individuals on campus who are too often marginalized and silenced. Furthermore, all students would benefit from the brilliant performances, interesting research, and compelling discussions about the important but oft overlooked functions of race, gender, ethnicity, sexuality and their intersections in art, scholarship, and student life at UCI.

Please join us in this exciting week-long Queer of Color Festival, co-organized by PhD student Anna Winget and Professor Daphne Lei. There are many wonderful artists and scholars who are willing to share their experience with students. We go across the bridge and beyond UCI to bring together queer artists/scholars of color to have conversations.
