The University of California Consortium for Black Studies in California, A Multi-Campus Research Program and Initiative, funded by the Office of the President of the University of California, announces its Rising Scholars Book Seminar Series, presenting public and scholarly discussions of Recent Books in Black Studies published by young scholars of the UC Irvine Faculty.
The fifth and final event for the winter 2016 term is a Seminar and Discussion of Prof. Alex Borucki (History, UC Irvine) long cultivated, original, and distinctive workFrom Shipmates to Soldiers: Emerging Black Identities in the Río de la Plata (Albuquerque: University of New Mexico Press, 2015).
The seminar is on Wednesday, March 2nd– 3-5 PM, Humanities Gateway Room 1010 with guest discussants: Prof. Robin Derby(History, UCLA), Prof. Sharla Fett (History, Occidental) and Prof. Horacio Legras (Spanish and Portuguese, UC Irvine).
An Event of the UC Irvine, Workshop in Critical Historiography and Social Theoretical Enquiry (CHASTE), a Consortium Program.
Light Refreshments will be served at the event.
The Winter Quarter 2016 Book Series Meets Bi-Weekly, from January 13th to March 2nd, Wednesdays – 3-5PM in Humanities Gateway Rooms 1010 and 1030 on the UC Irvine Campus.
