UCI Initiative to End Family Violence- Home Truth

The UCI Initiative to End Family Violence invites you and your students to attend a documentary screening of Home Truth, followed by a discussion between Jessica Lenahan (Gonzales) and Professor Jane Stoever.

Jessica Lenahan (Gonzales)Home Truth follows the life of Jessica (Gonzales) Lenahan, a domestic violence survivor whose three young daughters were tragically killed when her estranged husband abducted them in violation of a domestic violence restraining order. Devastated, Lenahan filed a lawsuit against the police for not adequately enforcing her restraining order, despite her repeated pleas for help when her children were abducted. Filmed over nine years, Home Truth chronicles Lenahan’s search for justice as she pursues her case all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court and an international human rights tribunal.

Determined to make sure her daughters did not die in vain, Lenahan is now a human rights and women’s rights advocate who speaks around the world about violence against women and improving our society’s response to domestic violence.
