The “What Matters to Me and Why” series continued with a captivating talk by Hal Stern, Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor and Chancellor’s Professor, Department of Statistics. We would like to thank those who attended and invite those who could not attend to view recordings of past events here.

The next event will take place on Wednesday, November 17, with a presentation by the Dean of The Paul Merage School of Business, Ian O. Williamson. During his 20-year career, Williamson has served on several academic committees and on the boards of directors for a variety of nonprofit organizations. In addition, he has provided expert insights in the areas of organizational innovation and employee recruitment and retention to executives in more than 20 countries across six continents for companies such as CBRE, PwC, Lockheed Martin, Nestle and Accenture.

“What Matters to Me and Why” encourages reflection about values, beliefs and motivations in the lives of those who shape our university. The series explores personal journeys – choices made, difficulties encountered, commitments formed and joys revealed – with the hope that these stories will help us to understand diverse pathways in life, work and leadership. Such understandings are crucial for fortifying tolerance, strengthening bonds, and supporting the virtues that make UCI a great institution.
