The “What Matters to Me and Why” series continued with a captivating talk by Neda Moayedi, director, SAGE Scholars Program, UCI Center for Educational Partnerships. We would like to thank those who attended and invite those who could not attend to view recordings of past events here.

The next event will take place on Wednesday, February 16, with a presentation by the Vice Provost, Academic Planning and Institutional Research, Roxane Cohen Silver, Ph.D. Roxane Cohen Silver, Ph.D. is Vice Provost for Academic Planning and Institutional Research and Distinguished Professor in the Department of Psychological Science, the Department of Medicine, and the Program in Public Health at the University of California, Irvine, where she has been actively involved in research, teaching, and administration since 1989. An international expert in the field of stress and coping, Silver has spent over four decades studying acute and long-term psychological and physical reactions to stressful life experiences, including personal traumas such as loss, physical disability, and childhood sexual victimization, as well as larger collective events such as terror attacks, infectious disease outbreaks, and natural disasters across the world. Dr. Silver received her Ph.D. in social psychology from Northwestern University, and is a dedicated teacher and active mentor of predoctoral and postdoctoral students. “What Matters to Me and Why” encourages reflection about values, beliefs and motivations in the lives of those who shape our university. The series explores personal journeys – choices made, difficulties encountered, commitments formed and joys revealed – with the hope that these stories will help us to understand diverse pathways in life, work and leadership. Such understandings are crucial for fortifying tolerance, strengthening bonds, and supporting the virtues that make UCI a great institution.
