This event will take place on Wednesday, May 18, with a presentation by Susan Huang, MD MPH. Dr. Huang is a Professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the UCI School of Medicine, as well as medical director of Epidemiology and Infection Prevention at UCI Health. For the past 20 years, Dr. Huang has studied how contagious pathogens are spread and prevented in healthcare. She oversees COVID-19 infection prevention policies and protocols for UCI Health and leads the Orange County Nursing Home COVID Prevention Team on behalf of OC Public Health and Medicaid agencies. She has served on numerous committees for the CDC and national infectious diseases and infection prevention societies. She received her MD from Johns Hopkins University, her Master of Public Health from Harvard University, and completed her Infectious Diseases fellowship at Brigham & Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital.

“What Matters to Me and Why” encourages reflection about values, beliefs and motivations in the lives of those who shape our university. The series explores personal journeys – choices made, difficulties encountered, commitments formed and joys revealed – with the hope that these stories will help us to understand diverse pathways in life, work and leadership. Such understandings are crucial for fortifying tolerance, strengthening bonds, and supporting the virtues that make UCI a great institution.

This is the final talk in this series for the 2021-2022 academic year. We encourage you to join us May 18 to hear Dr. Huang’s unique perspectives. To attend in person, register here. To attend via Zoom, register here.
