We offer this planning webinar at the beginning of each semester so that you can take time out of your schedule to identify your personal and professional goals, create a strategic plan to accomplish them, and identify the types of community, support, and accountability you need to make this your most productive and balanced semester ever!

Facilitator Bio:

Rachel McLaren, PhD, is Associate Professor in the Communication Studies Department at the University of Iowa. She is a Faculty Success Program Coach and Head Coach. She is also a Certified Workshop Facilitator for the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity. Rachel’s research focuses on interpersonal communication in families, romantic relationships, and friendships. She examines issues related to emotions, conflict, and how people make sense of and talk about difficult experiences in their relationships. Her current work examines hurt feelings between parents and adolescents. Rachel teaches undergraduate courses in the areas of conflict, small group communication, and issues in relationships that are typically considered problematic or dysfunctional. She teaches graduate courses on theory as well as the intersection of communication, cognition, and emotion. Rachel works hard to squeeze the most out of her work hours so she can enjoy time with her husband, three young children, and two dogs. She enjoys hosting get-togethers at her home, working out, reading fiction, and using technology to keep in touch with her friends and family that live far away.
