Professor Johnson received a B.S. in Geological Sciences from the University of Michigan in 1992 and her PhD in Geology from the University of California, Berkeley in 2004.  She joined the UCI Dept. of Earth System Science faculty in 2007, after a three year post-doc at the University of Oxford, UK.

Professor Johnson’s research focuses on paleoclimate reconstruction utilizing speleothems, with a focus on paleoclimate records from tropical and monsoon regions.  In addition to developing climate records spanning the late Pleistocene and Holocene, she is actively engaged in research to test and develop geochemical climate proxies in speleothems and to study the climatic controls on stable isotopes in precipitation.
