Our mission in the Office on Inclusive Excellence is to establish UCI as a national leader and global model for inclusive excellence, where all faculty, staff, graduate and undergraduate students expect equity, support diversity, practice inclusion, and honor free speech. Your support will help programs that start impactful conversations, conduct responsive research, and support the campus and local community.

Launched in 2016, the UCI Confronting Extremism Initiative has funded responsive research through the Provost Initiative on Understanding and Engaging with Extremism and drawn crowds from the campus and community for dynamic speakers to discuss topics of extremism and hate.

The Inclusive Excellence Spirit Awards was launched in 2015, the program supports faculty activities on the UCI campus and in the broader community. Each funded proposal receives emphatic support from the faculty member’s department or school and has an enduring impact by meeting one of five goals:

  1. Deepen the understanding of race, gender, class, sexuality, immigration status, and/or other
    identities
  2. Promote emotional intelligence and intercultural competency
  3. Build and sustain partnerships with community-based organizations
  4. Advance achievement among educationally-disadvantaged communities
  5. Contribute to an affirmative climate for all members of the Anteater community
diverse thoughts

Looking for the next big idea? Do you want to help an early career researcher or scholar transform their field and impact the world? The Chancellor’s ADVANCE Postdoctoral Fellowship Program has provided opportunities for such discovery by hosting innovative researchers from diverse fields to excel in a range of projects and inquiry for societal good.

Founded on the campus in 2013 and modeled after the prestigious University of California President’s Postdoctoral Fellowship Program, UCI’s CPF awards have supported over 20 scholars of exceptional merit. Selected awardees from this competitive process examine topics ranging from climate change and anti-malarial treatments, to impacts of policies and the nature of cells, the cosmos, and life. Your support will aid these emerging scholars in research, enabling them to contribute to complex questions and issues across the societal spectrum.

Your contribution will support these programs and many others. Join us as we work toward building a community where all expect equity, support diversity, practice inclusion, and honor free speech.
