Spotlight Series
The Inclusive Excellence Spotlight Series explores current topics in Inclusive Excellence told from the perspective of the UCI community. The goal of the series is to tell the human story of Inclusive Excellence while also sharing University policy around issues of Free Speech and Inclusive Excellence.
Islamophobia
The topic of the first installment is Islamophobia or fear of Islam and Muslim people. Dr. Douglas Haynes, Vice Provost for Academic Equity, Inclusion and Diversity, explores this topic with UCI student Aya Hallak, an international major and participate in the Olive Tree Initiative.
AANAPISI
The Spotlight Series continues as we discuss UCI’s designation as an AANAPISI – Asian American, Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institution. Vice Provost Douglas Haynes discusses the designation and activities supporting this community on the UCI campus with Executive Board Member of the Southeast Asian Student Association, Erica Khan.
