About Amplify Womxn of UCI
The Amplify series was inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement. Erica Turley-De Villa and Tanya Zabalegui, two of our board members for A&PW envisioned a form of storytelling that would provide a space for womxn of UCI to be heard. As Erica and Tanya began sharing their idea with individuals across campus, the support was immediate and generous. There are well over 15+ departments throughout campus that are either collaborating, supporting, or consulting on this initiative, and we are so grateful.
Panelists
Our guests this time, Sydney and Tatum, are two UCI literary journalism majors and talented story tellers. They are co-hosts of the CASE District VIII winning series, “The Welcome Table with Sydney and Tatum,” a web-series that spotlights pivotal moments in the lives of UCI’s Black faculty, staff, students, and alumni. The series has become part of the UCI’s Office of Inclusive Excellence Black Thriving Initiative. They are the co-founders of Black Fam 2.5, a podcast that began as a response to little representation on UCI’s campus and their goal to highlight the minority experience by featuring Black stories and accomplishments that aim to encourage narratives that inform others and inspire difficult conversations that matter. Black Fam 2.5 has been featured on several news platforms and shows, including ABC 7.
