Returning to UCI, Dr. Melina Abdullah, a Professor of Pan-African Studies at California State University, Los Angeles, is a womanist scholar-activist and a recognized expert on race, gender, class, and social movements. She is a co-founder of the Los Angeles Chapter of Black Lives Matter (BLMLA), the co-host and co-producer of the weekly radio program Beautiful Struggle on KPFK, the recipient of the National Conference of Black Political Scientists, Fannie Lou Hamer Award in 2016, and has guest starred on the popular tv show, Good Trouble.
