Transnational Reverberations: Recent Works in Ending the Korean War ♥

In this collaborative discussion, Clara Han, Crystal Mun-hye Baik, and Monica Kim will discuss the recent publication of their books, which focus on the multiscalar implications of the Korean War, with commentary provided by Jinah Kim. An ongoing 70-year conflict that remains unfinished, the Korean War has had profound effects across multiple scales– ranging from the continuing implications of peninsular division on bodies, social intimacies, communities, and land and water ecologies, to the brutality of militarized sexual violence and national surveillance, to global security systems and transpacific formations. Given the significant number of books that have been published on the Korean War in Critical Asian Studies, Anthropology, History, and Asian American Studies these past two years, Professors Han, Baik, Kim, and Kim also will situate this moment of reckoning in relation to the collaborative work they are currently pursuing through the Ending the Korean War public syllabus project.
