You are cordially invited to a book talk and conversation with renowned journalist and author Lenora Chu and NPR’s Shanghai correspondent Rob Schmitz. Tuesday, October 3, 2017 3:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Humanities Gateway 1030     3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. – Book Talk & Signing Lenora Chu will discuss her new book, Little Soldiers: An American Boy, a Chinese School and the Global Race to Achieve, with UCI History Professor & Associate Dean Yong Chen and Professor of Education Deborah Lowe Vandell. Little Soldiers has already been lauded by the New York Times as a “perceptive” work that “vividly sketches” the differences between education in the United States and China. The talk will be followed by a book signing. 5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. – Where is China Heading? Lenora Chu will be joined via Skype by NPR’s Shanghai correspondent Rob Schmitz for a conversation on the latest developments across the Pacific in China. This discussion will be moderated by UCI Chancellor’s Professor of History & freelance journalist Jeffrey Wasserstrom.
