The Office of Inclusive Excellence offers signature programs to promote awareness, understanding and skills that value diversity, support equity and inclusion, and honor free speech.
These programs include:
Black Thriving Initiative Modules – campus-wide offerings that are free and open to all UCI members to understand issues of anti-Black racism and opportunities for change and allyship to enhance the UCI community.
Chancellor’s Inclusive Excellence Awards Forum – a showcase of the research and scholarship conducted by the Chancellor’s Inclusive Excellence Awardees to promote the UCI Strategic Plan and inclusive excellence priorities.
Inclusive Excellence Certificate Program – multiple offerings available to UCI students, faculty, staff and alumni to enrich their understanding about identities and value of diversity.
Inclusive Excellence Forum – an annual campus-wide event to track progress and discuss key aspects of the UCI Action Plan for Inclusive Excellence.
Institute for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion – an annual signature program engaging all UCI students, faculty, and staff involved in programming for diversity, equity and inclusion.
This Is What a Scientist/Engineer Looks Like – a partnership across multiple UCI offices and co-sponsored by the Office of Inclusive Excellence, UCI CalIt2, and the Stacey Nicholas Office of Access and Equity to enhance community through networking and workshops across diverse STEMM students and scholars at UCI.
U See I Write – a variety of writing retreats to promote community and scholarly productivity among UCI faculty members. Programs are open to all UCI faculty.
UCI Great Big Read – a partnership initiative hosted by the Office of Inclusive Excellence, UCI Libraries, and Division of Student Affairs to foster engagement and social solidarity during a time of physical distancing and related COVID-19 circumstances. The program featured campus-wide book reading and lecture series on topics related to diverse identities and themes in equity and inclusion.
