SAVE THE DATE: 2016 Students of Color Conference at UC Irvine!
SOCC will be hosted on the Irvine campus for the first time since 2006 this November 19th-20th.
Students and Campus Partners,
I am excited to announce that our campus will be hosting this year’s Student of Color Conference on campus from November 19-20th! We hope that all of you are as excited as we are for SOCC. For the first time since 2006, we are excited to welcome students from across the state to campus for SOCC.
The Students of Color Conference (SOCC) is the annual UCSA (University of California Student Association) event where the membership comes together to engage and challenge students of color and their allies to address issues of structural and cultural inequalities. SOCC is our oldest and largest conference, providing a safe space for students of color and their allies to strategize around statewide and campus-based actions. The University of California Student Association (UCSA) is a coalition of UC students and student governments aimed at increasing the accessibility, affordability and quality of the UC system through advocacy and direct action organizing.
SOCC will have a variety of programming opportunities, from workshops, to cultural performances, to speakers that come from various communities and from various backgrounds – from activists to artists and so much more.
Our Steering Committee is hard at work putting together a program that is better than any before. Our office will be releasing applications to be part of the Irvine delegation shortly, and we hope to see many of you take advantage of this unparalleled experience.
