KATHERINE SWITZER
Iconic athlete, sports and social advocate, author, and Emmy award-winning television commentator, Kathrine Switzer was the first woman to officially run the Boston Marathon. She registered as “K.V. Switzer,” defied the official who tried to force her off the course when she ran the all-male race, and fearlessly changed the face of sports. She has been honored widely for her achievements, most recently being inducted into the USA National Women’s Hall of Fame. |
ELIZABETH GRAY
Elizabeth Gray had the courage to take her first step to leave an incredibly abusive marriage. This gave her the courage to run her first marathon, something she had dreamt about for years. Gray, who was recently featured in Runner’s World, now shares her story to help other abuse survivors thrive and is running marathons in each state to raise awareness about domestic violence. |
