Event Breakdown

Saturday February 20th– eQuality, an organization primarily designed to further the interests of our LGBT community, is proud to host the Annual SoCal LGBT Health Conference. Registration is just $5 for students at www.socallgbthealthconference.com! Come to learn about LGBT health and network with prominent healthcare providers in the area!

 

Sunday February 21st– The Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association (APAMSA) will be hosting a ‘Winter Health Fair’ at the Westminster Civic Center from 10am-2pm. In collaboration with UCLA-based undergrad org Vietnamese Community Health. Volunteers will provideHep B screenings, bone density, glucose, cholesterol, dental, vision, chiropractic/acupuncture/tai chi/physical therapy for the underserved Vietnamese community. APAMSA is at capacity for volunteers but they do need your help broadcasting to the community!

 

Monday February 22nd– The Filipino Americans in Medicine (FAIM) has invited Absalon Galat, MD and Shalom Lorenzana, RN from Filipino-American Health Workers Association to  discuss the general health status of Filipinos in the United States. It will be held in the Tamkin Auditorium at from 5:30PM-6:45PM. Free Filipino food provided courtesy of Seafood City.

 

Tuesday February 23rd– The Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA) will be screening ‘No Más Bebés’, a documentary surrounding forced sterilization practices of Latina women in America. It will be held from 7PM-9PM in the Medical Education Building Colloquium Room (classroom 3070). Nachos will be provided!

 

Wednesday February 24th (afternoon)- APAMSA and the Family Medicine Interest Group have invited Dr. Michael Lee, MD MPH to discuss physician burnout and building resilience among students. The talk will be held from 12PM-1PM in the Medical Education Building Colloquium Room (classroom 3070)

 

Wednesday February 24th (evening)- The Student National Medical Association (SNMA) will be hosting a discussion about Healthcare and the Plight of Black Providers. An esteemed panel will join us in discussion about socioeconomic factors and how they influence underserved patients and the physicians that serve them. The program will be held in the Tamkin Auditorium from 6PM-8PM.

 

Thursday February 25th- eQuality will be screening ‘Gen Silent’ The documentary will be screened at 6PM in the Nelson Auditorium.

 

Friday February 26th- Doctors 4 Diversity (D4D) will be holding a teaching event at Bryant Elementary School in Long Beach,CA. For more information email Cynthia Enriquez at cenriqu1@uci.edu
