“Diversity and Belonging in Statistics Profession”
“Unity in Diversity” is the motto of the Indian Statistical Institute where I graduated from. Excellence in statistics profession is enhanced by diversity. Increasing diversity in our profession is everyone’s responsibility, and each one of us, our departments, and our professional societies can and should proactively increase diversity and increase a sense of belonging at every level. This commitment should be consistent and be a part of our culture and need to go beyond the rhetoric. What are the activities that are currently being done, what initiatives are having an impact, and what can we do better?
