Research grants for UC faculty and grad students studying undocumented students or mixed-status families
Dear colleagues, I am writing to let you know about the newly-established UC Collaborative to Promote Immigrant and Student Equity (UC PromISE) I am leading which aims to promote policy-relevant research on how immigration policies have exacerbated vulnerabilities among undocumented students and expanded collateral consequences to citizen students with undocumented parents. Funded by a two-year UC multicampus research program and initiatives grant, we will be launching a UC-wide research study and a series of programs and conferences to support scholars and stakeholders doing research in this area. UCI Awarded the Dr. Juan Francisco Lara Education Award
UCI Awarded the Dr. Juan Francisco Lara Education Award UCI received the Dr. Juan Francisco Lara Education Award for 2018 from the Orange County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. The award recognizes UCI’s recent designation as a Hispanic-Serving Institution. This designation demonstrates UCI’s commitment to serve as an engine of social mobility for first generation and low-income students. Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Enrique Lavernia accepted the award on behalf of UCI at the OCHCC’s 25th Annual Estrella Awards Ceremony, held at the Disneyland Hotel-Grand Ballroom on April 21, 2018.
