Senate Resolution honors Hispanic-Serving Institutions, recognizes National HSIs Week, Sept. 16-22, 2019 The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities applauds the U.S. Senate for recognizing the contributions made by Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) and emerging HSIs. A Senate Resolution introduced by U.S. Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ) and adopted unanimously by the full Senate observes National Hispanic-Serving Institutions Week. S.Res.319 recognizes the achievements of 523 HSIs throughout our nation by designating Sept. 16-22, 2019, as National HSIs Week. Confronting Extremism as a Fundamental Responsibility for Citizenship
Dear Campus Community, Two years ago and a month after the public display of racism and violent extremism in Charlottesville, Virginia, UCI launched the Confronting Extremism initiative. The purpose of the initiative was to channel our research, teaching and service mission to better understand extremism and to use these insights to inform how to respond as individuals and as a community. Unfortunately, this imperative has only grown more pressing with time.
